Piece of Mind
World peace will never be stable until enough of us find inner peace to stabilize it. — Peace PilgrimArchive for Sarah Palin
Say it ain’t so, HuffPo
I love the Huffington Post, it’s a great alternative news source, and I enjoy the columnists – moreso than I would those at Townhall.com, for instance. But over the past 48 hours, I’ve been deeply disappointed and even a little horrified at the Web site’s obsession with Sarah Palin’s hair, make-up and wardrobe.
Oh, I get it. I really do. Republicans cracked this door with criticism of John Edwards’ hair cuts and flung it wide open for Hillary Clinton during the primary. The steady stream of abhorrent comments about her appearance went virtually ignored by Republicans. Some Republican women even chimed right in, ignoring the sexism in favor of making political points.
HuffPo has bills to pay, and this kind of stuff brings in the numbers. But does a liberal blog really want to go down this road? Do liberals? We gain nothing by behaving like conservative Republicans. In fact, this kind of thing loses us the high ground we have gained and need to hold as we head into the final days before the election.
We have been blessed with a lead candidate who is so much above this kind of fray. Let’s not blow it now.
